The Virginia Beach City Schools Zone
Great Neck falls within Virginia Beach City Public Schools, and it's one of the neighborhoods buyers ask me about specifically for its schools. Most of the neighborhood is zoned to Great Neck Elementary School and Great Neck Middle School, both named for and located within the neighborhood, feeding into Cox High School. Great Neck Middle carries a GreatSchools rating of 9 out of 10 [5](https://www.greatschools.org/virginia/virginia-beach/1760-Great-Neck-Middle-School/), and Cox High is rated 7 out of 10 [6](https://www.greatschools.org/virginia/virginia-beach/1806-Frank-W.-Cox-High-School/). I wasn't able to confirm a current GreatSchools page specifically for Great Neck Elementary, so I'd rather have you check greatschools.org directly for that one than guess.
Because attendance zones can change and Great Neck has several distinct sections, including Great Neck Estates, Alanton and Linkhorn Estates, I always tell buyers to verify zoning for the exact address they're considering rather than assume based on the neighborhood name alone. Two homes a few streets apart can sometimes be zoned differently, especially near the edges of the neighborhood.
