South Norfolk's Chesapeake Public Schools
South Norfolk is served by Chesapeake Public Schools, and most homes in the neighborhood feed into a consistent set of schools: Portlock Primary for the earliest grades, George W. Carver Intermediate for grades 3 through 5, and then Oscar Smith Middle and Oscar Smith High for grades 6 through 12. That's a different school lineup than you'll find in Greenbrier or Chesapeake's newer subdivisions, since South Norfolk's school assignments reflect the older, denser layout of this part of the city.
